My research interests cover a range of questions in the fields of community ecology, landscape ecology, agroecology, and conservation of tropical and subtropical environments. In my PhD I am studying the role of spatial complexity in the origin of ecosystem robustness and I would like to know how body size interacts with space to organize biotic communities. I use parasitoid-herbivore-plant communities as the study model because these organisms are highly diverse in terms of species, body size, and life-history traits; secondly, they participate in ecological processes that are key in natural and human-dominated environments, such as herbivory and parasitism, and thirdly, they are easily observed due to their low mobility. After finishing my PhD I would like to apply to a postdoctoral position to continue developing my research in the organization of parasitoid-herbivore-plant interactions.
